Recently bought a new Compaq Presario C767TU Notebook computer from Digital Interface at the second level of NCCC Mall Davao.
Here are the following specifications:
System Model: Compaq Presario C767TU Notebook
Processor : Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T2370, 1.73 Ghz
Chipset: Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family
Memory: 2048 Mb
Optical Drive: TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L632H, DVD writer dual layer
Hard Drive: 160 Gb
IO Ports: 5 in 1 Card Reader, Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC (LAN), 1 Atheros AR5006X Wireless Network Adapter (WIFI), Microphone, Headphone Jack Adapter, S-Video Out, VGA Out, Altec Lansing Speakers, 3 usb ports, 1 RJ 11 Modem.
Weight: 2.40 kilos, free carrying bag, optical mouse
Operating System: Free Dos (Installed with Windows XP SP2)
Screen: 15.4 brightview widesscreen
Multimedia: Conexant HD-Audio SmartAudio 221
Whats nice about this notebook it has a 15.4″ wide screen so see I can see clearly the work that I’m doing may it be blogging, developing websites for a client, and doing some graphic layouts. The minimal downside though is the battery seems to drain in a matter of an hour based on my experience, no matter how I tried to conserve battery energy. (still looking for a battery management software that will monitor battery usage. Have you ever seen the battery management of the new Acer Notebooks? I find it efficient, from there you can select different modes to conserve battery energy, ahh I’m being redundant here.)

I’m planning to buy the same laptop later this month. I have a few questions, if you don’t mind:
1. Price?
2. Bundled OS - how does it perform under vista?
3. Batt life - just 1 hour? how about with WiFi off?
4. RAM - did you upgrade the RAM or did it come with 2 GB already?
5. Would you recommend buying this laptop?
Thanks and I look forward to any comments you can share.

@ Lyne, RN
P31k+, No OS (only freedos), works better with Windows XP SP2, installed it myself (Vista is a buggy OS), 2.5 hours the max, 1000mb ram (additional 1,200), I would recommend this because this is what I’m using right now (im being biased.. hehehe), I have all the necessary drivers if you want.
so in total P31K+P1200=P32k+ prices subject to changes without you noticing.

Thanks for the reply, iceman9. You have been very helpful. I still have a few more questions, if it’s OK.
1. Does it have bluetooth?
2. Is the 2 GB max already for the two slots or can it accomodate 2 x 2GB?
3. The Optical Drive is DVD-R/RW, correct?
Thanks again. By the way, your blog is the only 1 with a useful review of the Compaq C767TU laptop. I’ve been googling it for days now.

This HP laptop is a good one, but the downside is the “REALTEK LAN”. RealTek is the cheapest quality chips in the market, Either realtek sound or network they both do not have any value.
When a laptop is made in china the OEM companies some how force them to use the RealTek products (because realtek is a taiwanese company who make chips in china).
The best sound chips are ADI,SIGMATEL,TI,CREATIVE and network are INTEL,BROADCOMM.
This laptop has a conexant sound chip which i have never used before, still i am testing the chips quality and Laptop would be more better if it had a INTEL or BROADCOMM network chip. At least a ATHEROS network chip would be ok.
