Relieved of my Duties - Part 1

Last night on April 29, 2008, I had a strange feeling, a feeling that something is going happen but not seriously bad, I was unable to to get enough sleep. Slept around 3am in the morning. Then, when I reported to work, somebody from the Records Section of our Office knocked at the door of IT Department and handed me a memorandum stating:

“In the exigency of the service, you are hereby directed to report to your original station, Sta. Ana District Office, effective immediately.

In this connection, you are hereby relieved of your duties and responsibilities as MIS In Charge of the Division Office. You are hereby directed to clear yourself of money and property accountability and turn over the User Administration Account (HRIS, Division Website, etc.) to the new MIS In Charge. It is expected that there shall be full disclosure of passwords and other confidential information relative to the MIS Office.

You are further prohibited from interfering directly or indirectly in the MIS operations. Any violations of this prohibition shall be dealt with administratively by this Office.

Corollarily, your role in the Division Inspectorate Team is likewise terminated.”

One thing I could say is, I wasn’t given any due process or explanation on why I was relieved, I wasn’t given a chance or hint to defend or clear myself, from any allegations or misbehaviors if ever I have committed, at least I could be aware of.

I admit, I myself have my share of shortcomings and I can’t please anyone, but never in my wildest dreams left my work undone. I hate office politics! (makes me sick to my stomach) In fact I have to many things to think of; managing the Server Gateways, Network Connections, Internet Availability, Helpdesk issues (where users seem to take IT for granted), I’m always feeling burned out, I always come to the office late, I’m all alone managing the IT Infrastructure, but now, there is only one person left to manage the IT Department I hope he does not burn out like me, being overworked, well, they can’t blame me if I’m strict with them, they only end up testing and wasting my patience. Because the purpose of having an internet is not to serve their personal needs but rather the needs of the Division Office on Official Duties only, I find it really hard to explain technical matters it in layman (pea brain) terms, and yet some individuals resort to insisting, backstabbing, or perhaps give negative impressions or feedbacks which I find it very unprofessional. Besides I’m not their type (hehehe..) kidding!. Nevertheless! I try to be more civil in dealing with matters related to my line of work.

I was surprised to read ur predicament in life, but maybe, it’s one of the trials that God has given to u. Dont take it negatively, but rather take the positive effect of being relieved of ur duties. Try to sort these things out, and eventually, ul relieved from ur bad feelings. Always pray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how sad! but sometimes it makes us realize that life is not easy that we can’t get all we want… Your misunderstood man… just be strong.. prove your worth man… i know you can get through this… God bless and guide you… just have Faith on HIM

I’m surprised about it! I really don’t know what to say. But whatever it is thats happening to you and your career, it has a purpose. I’m sure everybody in the Division Office knows how
good you are in managing the IT and of course the DepEd Website. But they just took you for granted, and thats the worst thing. If I’m on your feet (or shoe rather), I’m sure I would feel very disappointed too.
Just look at it this way… You have done your part in the Division Office, let somebody do his part too, and lets see if he can do more than what u did… we will know in the future.. hehehe.
As an employee, we have to follow orders from our Superiors. I know you can adjust well with your new colleagues in your new station. God has put u there because you have brilliant ideas regarding IT and schools need your service. Its not really pretty good at the start but i know you will succeed in the future. I’m just here to listen and a friend to cry on… take care…

well faust, you know that i understand your situation very well and i know how pasionate you are with your work. but let me say this, in my many years of living in this world (it’s not that i am old), whenever a door closes another one opens.

i can tell you that if you really love what you are doing, wherever you will be placed, you will continue to be doing what you enjoy and surely will continue to succeed. Look on the bright side, the school might be needing a Website too. and i am very much willing to host it for free since i know the school doesnt have the same infra as the Division Office. i can also pay for the domain if needed.

cheer up buddy, things will only get better, you’ll see!!

    iceman9.

    just heard the news buddy.
one of the keys for the success of ones career is not how well or how knowledgeable you are in your assigned task but rather its the way you work well with your colleague especially in dealing with them and with your superiors. May be they have observed some negative traits from you that they cant understand. its your moody behavior maybe, sometimes your approachable but most of the time your’ not. you cant or we cant boost for what ever we’ve done with the office because if we havnt, somebody would have done it and we are being paid for it. and its our jury duty as workers in the department.
But any way Faust, don’t take my comment negatively, its just my observation. and I understand how you feel. But thats life, just think that they’r trials to purge us as golds are being tried in fire b4 it glitters. i sympathize with you bay. tnx. engr arman

    @ pospos

Do you know of a quick way to find KeywordLuv blogs to comment on? I tried a search based on what you have above but it looks like that is a custom message.

  14. dramaqueen Says:

Iceman 9, I hope you are taking the situation a little better than when you posted this… I feel for you and from last Saturday when I met you I can say you are a young, smart and passionate person who holds a lot of potential (no kidding!). I agree with little rianne, when a door closes, a window opens. I have been reading Joel Osteen and let me rub off on you something I have learned: things are not happening to you, they happen “on” you, meaning you are being prepared for a much bigger and better and challenging plan. Think of this as a growing pain, you will grow roots, you will have your vindication if you do not lose sight of your dreams and you do not forget what you are capable of achieving in life…

All the best to you Faust, your blogger friends believe in you! :)

  15. iceman9 Says:

    @ dramaqueen

thanks for the moral support! hehehe.. give me cigar please!
